In one of the rarer instances in my time following this amazing blog, I can actually say “I’ve been there!”. It was 1996, I was in third grade, and very cold although it was the dead of summer.

I’ve been looking for a good Italian grocery store in Los Angeles. I haven’t found one yet because I’m not really looking for a good Italian grocery store, I’m looking for something that reminds me of Calabria’s, and nothing really reminds you of half-forgotten nostalgia. I’m looking for a feeling I never felt in the first place.

I don’t live in LA and have never been to Chicago, but boy does that resonate. TR FTW.
thisrecording:

Walking the aisles, I feel a sense of calm and control which I so rarely feel outside of the grocery store.

the top 7 so far

I AM THE CAT.

thisadvertisinglife:

when I’m waiting on someone to compliment my clever copy

how I feel when a project is finally finished

when I start noticing changes I wasn’t told about

when I realize the cleaning lady is in the restroom

when I’m the first in the office to find the newest internet thing

pitching a bunch of concepts that nobody likes

and finally: when the client says, “make this go viral”

mmmmm.

Also I watched Melancholia a couple nights ago and this somehow reminds me of that, although I think it may be healthier.

editorial:

We’re excited to announce the official launch of Storyboard, our new hub for in-depth conversations with Tumblr’s creative community. We’ll be posting regular features on creators working in and around Tumblr’s massively diverse cosmos — writers, musicians, animators, scientists, artists, archivists, chefs, comedians, or anyone else with a great story to tell. Today we’re talking about Michael Stipe, the New York Times, Afghanistan, and the design mechanics of the Tumblr Dashboard.
We want to hear your stories too. If you’re interested in submitting a story (or even a story idea) for us to publish, just post it on Tumblr tagged with #storyboard. Our editors will monitor the tag and the community’s interactions there, promoting stories that resonate. And if your story really works, we’ll ask to expand it for publication on Storyboard itself.
Last but not least, if you find yourself in New York City on May 10, we’d love to hang out at the official Tumblr meetup celebrating Storyboard’s launch. It’s at Powerhouse Arena, 7-9pm, with drinks on us and several Tumblr celebrity mystery guests (cough Topherchris, Tommypom, cough).
